Hamilton and Helmsing win $800,001 jury verdict for Castles and Crowns, Inc., a Mobile, Alabama designer of fine children’s clothing, in a case involving conversion of Castles’ merchandise.

(Mobile, AL)-McDowell Knight Roedder & Sledge, L.L.C. partners Craig Hamilton, Fred Helmsing, Richard Gaal, and Blair Newman represented Castles and Crowns, Inc., a designer of fine children’s clothing based in Mobile, Alabama, in a civil case against a former Castles’ operations manager and her sister concerning the conversion and unauthorized sale of Castles’ clothing.  The operations manager and her sister denied that they wrongfully took the clothes.  The operations manager claimed she received the clothes as part of a performance bonus.  After four days of trial, a Mobile County jury found in favor of Castles and awarded $800,000 in compensatory damages for the wrongfully taken merchandise, and an additional $1 in punitive damages against the sisters.
