Jerry A. McDowell
In Memoriam 1934-2019
Mr. McDowell was born in Bladon Springs, Alabama, and served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army 1957-1961. He received his undergraduate degree from The University of Alabama in 1957, and went on to graduate from The University of Alabama School of Law in 1963. While at The University of Alabama, Jerry served on the Board of Editors of the Alabama Law Review in 1962-1963. He served as law clerk to The Honorable Daniel H. Thomas, United States District Court, Southern District of Alabama, 1963-1964.
As one of the founding partners in the firm, Mr. McDowell distinguished himself over the course of his career as one of the foremost defense litigators in the nation. He was a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a member of the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association, the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel, and the Defense Research Institute, Inc., and received the honor of being regularly listed in The Best Lawyers in America.
