AREAS OF PRACTICE

Edward S. Sledge, III

Mr. Sledge has developed a national reputation as a premier litigator and trial lawyer with experience across many areas of the law. He credits that extensive trial experience with honing his instincts with regard to approaching and preparing each case, noting that there is no substitute for experience when it comes to trial preparation. Mr. Sledge enjoys the challenge of understanding each case so thoroughly that he’s able to present the facts with simplicity and clarity, in order to help members of the jury find in favor of his clients.

When it comes to serving clients well, Mr. Sledge believes in the importance of quickly assessing client goals, the facts, and the applicable law. In doing so, he’s able to provide sound advice as to whether the goals are achievable, and which legal course would best serve overall client needs. He values being able to perceive other parties to each legal proceeding clearly, including their strengths and weaknesses, and understanding how those variables will influence the development, cost, and potential success of a case.

Ed is married and the father of three children. His oldest son Edward, 40, is a West Point Graduate and a partner in a major Birmingham law firm; his second son Will ,35, is an investment banker splitting his time between NYC, business travels and Mobile; his daughter Caroline, 35 (Will’s twin), is a married homemaker and mother of two in Atlanta. His wife, Nancy, whom he describes as “very pretty on the inside and out,” is a grandmother first who spends lots of time helping with grandchildren. Ed credits her with being an asset to him professionally and the chief representative of the family in local community service, including the boards of the Mobile Symphony Orchestra, UMS Wright Preparatory School, Via Senior Center, and the church Vestry.
