Anne Laurie McClurkin

Anne Laurie has significant experience and a strong track record representing companies and individuals in employment and commercial disputes. Her devotion to representing clients at every level has made her a valuable resource for businesses in their efforts to craft legally sound human resource policies and minimize potential liability. Most recently, in 2015, she won defense verdicts for Mobile’s largest industrial employer in two race and gender discrimination cases tried to a jury. In 2014, Anne Laurie also won summary judgment for the employer in a separate race and gender discrimination lawsuit and successfully argued a matter of first impression before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Anne Laurie regularly counsels employers concerning litigation, various compliance matters, and also conducts employee and manager training on various topics, including union avoidance, diversity, and sensitivity/effective management skills.

In addition to her extensive experience in the area of employment law, Anne Laurie has defended both companies and individuals in major commercial disputes. In 2016, she obtained a dismissal for a builder in a contractual dispute that involved a matter of first impression regarding construction of an Alabama statute. In 2009, Anne Laurie won a defense verdict for a large venture capitalist firm in a claim alleging tortious interference with a contract and business relations. While defending insurance companies in bad faith cases, she has secured numerous summary judgments for the insurer, including the first such decision in Alabama addressing an insurer’s denial of coverage for Hurricane Katrina damage in 2008.

Anne Laurie works to achieve a good outcome for each client through every phase of the legal process, from discovery to strategy and trial preparation. She values client resources and manages time and expenses to achieve the desired result with efficiency.
