Craig Hamilton has a diverse litigation and trial practice. He regularly defends complex civil cases in the areas of product liability, medical liability, legal liability, premises liability, trucking, railroad, maritime, construction, and consumer fraud/debt related matters. Craig has tried and arbitrated many different kinds of cases in several states. His regular clients include the largest nongovernmental healthcare system in Alabama made up of numerous hospitals and medical clinics, various product manufacturers, trucking companies, and industrial and commercial construction companies.
In 2011 alone, Craig has already tried three significant jury trials. In September, Craig defended a large trucking company in a jury trial in the Circuit Court of Escambia County, Florida. The claim involved a trucking accident with the plaintiff making claims of permanent injury. The jury returned a defense verdict for the trucking company.
In June, Craig helped defend a Korean seatbelt manufacturer in a complex product liability case tried before a Mobile County jury for two weeks. Following trial, the Circuit Court of Mobile County, Alabama granted the seatbelt manufacturer's post-verdict motion for judgment as a matter of law on all claims.
In March, Craig obtained a $200,200.00 verdict on behalf of a client in a premises liability case following a jury trial in the Circuit Court of Baldwin County, Alabama.
Craig is active in the Defense Research Institute and the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association, where he is a past president of the Young Lawyers Section. Craig was also selected as a 2010 Rising Star by Alabama Super Lawyers.
Craig graduated from Cumberland School of Law, cum laude, in 1999 and from Auburn University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. While at Cumberland, Craig was an Associate Editor on the Cumberland Law Review and received the Outstanding Associate Editor Award for 1998-99. He was also the winner of the Gordon T. Saad Moot Court Competition and a Cordell Hull Teaching Fellow. Craig is a member of Cumberland's honorary society, Curia Honoris.
