Walt Gilmer practices in the field of general civil litigation, with an emphasis on insurance-related and commercial litigation, employment litigation, products liability, and appellate and other complex matters. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1986. Walt graduated from The University of Alabama, B.A. cum laude 1983, and from The University of Alabama School of Law, J.D. 1986, where he served on the Editorial Board and as Associate Editor of the Alabama Law Review, 1984-1986, and was selected for the Bench and Bar Legal Honor Society.

Walt has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America for multiple years and is currently recognized in the practice areas of Commercial Litigation, Insurance Law, and Litigation-Labor & Employment. Walt is a member of the International Claim Association and is the firm's principal for "The Select List of Law Firms for the Defense of Life, Health and Disability Insurance".

Walt serves on the Board of Trustees of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (Alabama Chapter), and he and his wife, Elisabeth, have three sons.
