M. Kennith Frank, III retired in December, 2006 as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Akzo Nobel, Inc. Ken is a graduate of the National Law Center at George Washington University and the Foreign Service School at Georgetown University, both in Washington, D.C. He is a graduate of the Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Ken began his career as an attorney with International Telephone and Telegraph Corporation and as Assistant Attorney General of Alaska. He then became Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Corporate Secretary at Champion International, a paper and forest products company. In 1991, he went to work as Senior Vice President General Counsel of Courtaulds, Inc. until Courtaulds, plc was acquired by Akzo Nobel, NV in 1998. At that time Ken was made General Counsel of Akzo Nobel, Inc., the entity that owned and operated all North American operations of Akzo Nobel, NV, the Dutch conglomerate. Ken has served as Vice President of the International Association of Defense Counsel, and as Chairman of its Corporate Counsel Committee.
