Frederick G. Helmsing, Jr. handles complex civil litigation and white-collar criminal litigation. His practice includes all aspects of pre-trial and trial work.

He has extensive experience representing manufacturers and distributors in product liability claims on both a state-wide and regional basis. His experience includes cases involving prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, medical devices, medical products, consumer products, specialty products, agricultural equipment, industrial equipment, asbestos and other toxic substances. Helmsing has represented clients in a number of coordinated and consolidated proceedings pending in multiple jurisdictions. Additionally, he has written and spoken to lawyers on a wide range of product liability issues.

In addition to his product liability experience, his civil litigation practice regularly includes handling complex commercial litigation. Helmsing has prosecuted and defended claims involving multi-party contract disputes, equipment procurement disputes, shareholder disputes, derivative litigation, corporate and partnership disputes. He has also counseled clients concerning these matters outside the scope of formal litigation.

His criminal practice routinely involves the representation of businesses and individuals against a broad range of white collar criminal allegations. He has represented clients in connection with accusations of bank fraud, mail fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy and criminal anti-competitive activity. He has tried several criminal cases including a six-week multi-party case.

Helmsing is a member of the Alabama State Bar, the American Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, the American Inns of Court, and the Mobile Bar Association. He is a graduate of the Alabama State Bar Leadership Forum and has served in leadership capacities in a number of legal, civic and charitable organizations.

He graduated from Washington & Lee University, cum laude, in 1993 and from the University of Alabama School of Law, cum laude, in 1996.
