Edward S. Sledge, III practices in the fields of products liability (drugs, medical devices, and manufactured products), First Amendment, construction, corporate and commercial, insurance, communications, and class action litigation. He was born in Mobile, Alabama, and was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1972. He graduated from The University of Alabama, B.S. 1969, and from The University of Alabama School of Law, J.D. 1972. Ed is a member of the Mobile Bar Association, the Alabama State Bar (Chairman of the Communications Law Section, 1991-1992), and the American Bar Association (Litigation Section). He is also a member of the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association (Board of Directors, 1987), the Products Liability Advisory Council, the International Association of Defense Counsel (Member of Executive Board, 1995-1998; Chairman of Advocacy & Practice Procedure Section, 1987-1990; Director, Defense Counsel Trial Academy 1992, Director-Elect 1991; and Faculty Member, 1989), the Defense Research Institute, Inc. (Alabama State Chairman, 1988-1995, current member, Steering Committee and Program Chair of the DRI Drug and Device Section, Chair of the Drug and Medical Device Committee, 2005-2006), and serves on the Advisory Council of the National Judicial College. Ed is a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers International and is listed as the number one practitioner in Alabama for product liability expertise in the International Who’s Who of Product Liability Defense Lawyers. He is also listed in the Best Lawyers in America and the National Register's Who's Who in Executives and Professionals.
