Over the past 24 years, Brian has tried scores of significant cases in a variety of areas of the law, including admiralty and maritime, products liability, railroad, wrongful death and personal injury, commercial litigation, construction litigation, and professional malpractice. He tried his first case one month after passing the bar exam and has tried cases regularly ever since. Brian represents the Firm’s clients in litigation throughout the State of Alabama, in both state and federal courts, and in Mississippi and Florida as well.

In addition to his litigation practice, Brian has handled several cases on appeal, and is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Alabama, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He has argued numerous cases before the Eleventh and Ninth Circuits.

Brian has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America in each of the last five years, and is also listed as one of the Top 50 Lawyers in the state of Alabama in the 2009 and 2010 editions of Alabama Super Lawyers.

Brian is an active member of several national organizations, including the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel (executive committee), the Maritime Law Association, the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute, and the Defense Research Institute. He is also a member of the Product Liability and Transportation Steering Committees of Alfa International, a global network of independently-owned law firms.

Brian graduated from Illinois State University in 1981, which he attended on a football scholarship. Brian graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1986, where he served as the Articles Editor of the Alabama Law Review.

Brian and his wife Caroline have three children. He enjoys golfing, boating, biking, and hiking.
